One of the coolest things the team at u7buy.com has seen is EA’s desire to introduce cross play to FC 24. While EA FC 24 is hardly ever going to suffer from a low population (at least until FC 25 comes out), EA has tried to ensure that people can always find games. This is why they’ve designed a good cross-play system. However, do bear in mind that it is not complete cross-play. Only some modes are covered, and we’ll discuss those here.
There is a good chance that FIFA 25 will expand on this cross-play even further!
The Cross-Play Generations
Firstly – cross-play is not complete cross-play. The cross-play available will be dependent on your console generation:
- PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC are considered a single generation for cross-play purposes.
- PlayStation 4 and Xbox One are considered a generation.
Unfortunately, Nintendo Switch does not have any cross-play on FC 24, which means that you’ll only be playing with other Nintendo Switch players. It is, unfortunately, also one of the least-populated formats since it is so behind the other games.
Cross-play is turned on by default when you play EA FC 24. However, if you only wish to be matched with people on the same generation as you, you can turn off cross-play in the in-game options. However, do bear in mind that this may drastically increase the speed it takes to find matches in game. This will be especially true if the game becomes too unpopulated, which often happens when FC 25 is released.
What Works with Cross-Play on FUT 24
Thankfully, all the online game modes are now cross-play on EA’s FC 24. This wasn’t the case when the game first launched. This means that you can play with your friends assuming they are on the same generation as you in the following modes:
- Clubs
- Seasons
- VOLTA
- Ultimate Team (all modes)
- Friendlies
- Online seasons.
If you wish to send invites to people cross-platform, then you’ll need to use the EA Connect option that’s built into the game. This is where you’ll manage all your EA friends. So, if you find somebody you enjoy playing with (or you want to play with your friends), then add them to your EA Connect friend list. This will be available in all cross-play EA games.
What is Not Cross-Play on FC 24
The trade market in game is not cross-play on EA FC 24. This means that you can only buy players from people playing the same version of the game as you (e.g. if you buy cheap FIFA coins Xbox One, you can only use them to buy items from the Xbox One trade market).
There is a small chance that this may change in future generations of the game, but it is unknown. It wouldn’t be something difficult to make cross-play, but we assume that EA want to keep the trade markets separate, just in case something goes wrong with them.
